Butter and other similar products are a type of fat and suffer a very strong degradation through the oxygen of the air.

As with cheeses, aluminum makes the perfect barrier against oxygen.

However, as in cheeses, this contact is harmful to aluminum and moistens the paper and so a paraffin is added to make the waterproofing.
